Betty Lou Norton, 86, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on August 3, 2018 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born October 1, 1931 in rural Missouri to Berten and Norma Lucas Followwill. She graduated from Moulton High School in 1949. On November 30, 1952 she married Paul Norton in Centerville, Iowa. The couple lived in Des Moines for several years before moving back to the Moulton/West Grove area. Paul passed away on September 10, 2015.

Betty worked for Davis County Community Schools as a teachers aide and in the high school library. She retired in 1994 after 27 years with the school system. She was a member of the Bloomfield Open Bible Church where she played the piano, organ, and enjoyed fellowship with other members. She also enjoyed reading, sewing, and doing puzzles.

She is survived by a son, Philip (Deb) Norton of Bloomfield; three granddaughters, Nicole (Marc) Mueller of Ankeny, Iowa, Abby Norton of Des Moines, Iowa, Drew Norton of Ankeny; and two great-grandchildren, Kate and Connor Mueller.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Edna Harper; and brother, Bud Followwill.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 6, 2018 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Pastor Charles Courtney officiating. Burial will be at the West Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Monday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. A memorial has been established to her family. Betty was a good friend and I always enjoyed visiting with her and Paul. I remember singing duets with her at the Tabernacle church when we were young ladies.
I will miss her.

What a light Betty was for the Lord! I will miss her but at the same time, rejoice that she's with the Lord now. My sympathy to her family and good friend n helper Danny. I will always have fond memories of her.
