Betty Reno

Betty J. Reno was born in Albia, IA in 1926, one of sixteen siblings. Drawn to the big city lights of Chicago, she moved there with her older sister at the age of 19. She was married in 1943 and bore two daughters, Eileen Jean and Lynn before divorcing her first husband. Several years later, she found love when she met Robert "Bob" Reno, originally from Agency, IA. Betty and Bob were together for the rest of their lives, more than 45 years of marriage and partnership.
Throughout her life, Betty worked as a waitress, restaurant manager, and notably a machinist. She enjoyed listening to music, as well as watching movies and professional wrestling - a hobby passed on to her grandchildren. She kept a close connection to her family, the people, and the land of her youth in Iowa throughout her life and enjoyed gardening in her small patch of the world.
Betty is mourned by her neighbors and large extended family including her daughter, Lynn Stozek (Tom) of California; her granddaughter, Jennifer Goodwin (whom she raised from infancy); three grandsons: Grant Rexer (Sonia) of Oswego, IL, Ross Rexer of Miami, FL and Tommy Zamaripa of California; two sisters, Marjorie Briles and Geraldine Spielman of Albia, IA; great-grandchildren Jacob, Collin, Ethan, Teresa, Thomas; several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Reno; a daughter, Eileen Jean Goodwin; her parents, Walter and Grace Cozad; her brothers Donald, William, Lester, Roy, Lloyd Cozad; her sisters: Edna Fanta, Samantha Malone, Eunice Mangello, Louise Shipman, three siblings lost in infancy, as well as a niece and nephew.
