William R. "Bill" Pickrell, 80, of Ottumwa, died at 12:29 p.m. on July 30, 2017 at his home.
He was born November 15, 1936 in Ottumwa to Robert and Emily Merrill Pickrell. He married Marilyn Benedict on August 31, 1956.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He worked for 30 years for John Deere Ottumwa Works before retiring.
Surviving is his wife, Marilyn; three sons, James (Judy) Pickrell of Ottumwa, Tony (Teresa) Pickrell of Bolivar, MO and Brian (Tracy) Pickrell of Hedrick; daughter-in-law, Andrea Pickrell of Kansas City, MO; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a half-brother, Doug (Erma) Dalbey of Texas.
He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew David Pickrell; two brothers, Jack and Keith Pickrell; two sisters, Shirley Bower and Norma Denio; his parents and step-father, Chet Dalbey.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Wright officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Serving Davis & Wapello Counties, 927 Pennsylvania Ave., Ottumwa, IA 52501
