William S. Walker, 61, of Ottumwa, passed away January 22, 2018 at his home.
He was born August 31, 1956 in Ottumwa to Sherman and Joy Coffey Walker. He married Camilla Mitchell in October 1992.
Bill was a graduate of Indian Hills Community College and Buena Vista University. He worked at Bloomfield Ford for 18 years before becoming owner/operator of Liberty Tax Service in Ottumwa.
Bill was an avid sports lover. He enjoyed playing baseball, softball, bowling and especially golf. He taught his son, Matthew, how to play golf at the age of 5 and the two of them were inseparable from that moment on. He rarely missed one of Matthew's tournaments from the Iowa Junior Tour up to the collegiate level, traveling all across the country.
Bill is survived by his wife, Camilla; his son, Matthew, who was the light of his life; two sisters, Barb (Ted) Nixon of Cantril and Carol Walker of Cincinnati, OH; brother-in-law, Ron (Paula) Mitchell of Centerville; sister-in-law, Jeanice (Will) Lester of Red Oak; along with many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother-in-law, Bob Patterson and sister-in-law, Marilyn Little.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to Indian Hills Community College Foundation or Heartland Humane Society.
