Bonnie McNeal

Bonnie Kay McNeal, 74, of Ottumwa, passed away peacefully in her sleep January 8, 2019 at her son's home.
Bonnie was born April 13, 1944 in Ottumwa to Austin "Pete" and Donna Mace Phillips.
She married Ray Lasser and to this union, a son, Ray Austin Lasser, was born. They later divorced. She married the love of her life, Bill McNeal on August 28, 1962 and to this union a son, Cliff Lynn McNeal, was born.
Early in their married life Bonnie chose to be a full time stay at home mother for her boys. She went to work at Everco, then Universal Rundle (Praxis) and retired in 2009 to take care of her first great-grandson.
Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are her prized possessions. Bonnie will be remembered for her unconditional love for her family. She offered her home for two boys, Jason Long and Jeremy Long, during their formative teenage years. She was instrumental in molding them into the men they are today. The family enjoyed wonderful family dinners on Sundays as a tradition.
Bonnie enjoyed country music, tending to her flowers and loved making memories with her large extended family. She was a doting mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt who will be sorely missed.
Those left to honor her memory are her sons, Ray (Kathy) Lasser Jr. and Cliff (Rita) McNeal both of Ottumwa; two grandchildren, Tiffany McNeal of Ottumwa and Mercedes (Michael) Lewis of Casa Grande, AZ; four great-grandchildren, Jake and Zoey Rysdam, Michael Jr. and Mitchell Lewis; a sister, Vicki (Dwight) McConnell of Cedar Rapids; brother-in-law, Ervin McConnell; sister-in-law, Sheila Phillips and numerous nieces and nephews.
