Brenda Jean Blaise, 60, of Fremont, died at 2:57 p.m. February 22, 2017 at Mahaska Health Partnership in Oskaloosa.
She was born February 20, 1957 in Ottumwa to Joe J. and Marian V. Chambers Hopkins.
Brenda was a 1976 graduate of Ottumwa High School and had served in the U.S. Army.
She loved the outdoors such as gardening, taking care of the yard, camping, going to the river and spending time with her grandkids. Brenda always took care of her family, her family was her hobby and she had a big family who loved her and will miss her dearly.
Surviving are her daughters, Melissa (Brandon) Humble of Fremont and Melinda (Shamus) Brown of Bloomfield; four grandchildren, Trenton, Olivia, Alex and Quentin; her father, Joe Hopkins of Albia; her 12 siblings, Joe A. (Paula) Hopkins, Wayne (DeAnna) Hopkins, Jim Hopkins, John Hopkins, Lowell Hopkins, Lloyd (Chris) Hopkins, Larry (Sarah) Hopkins, Jenny (Ken) Anderson, Penny (Mike) Munley, Maryellen (Jeff) Kingsley, Cindy (Jake) Weilbrenner and Candy Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Marian Hopkins.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
