Brett Dean Luke

Brett Dean Luke of Clearwater Florida uttered his last wildly inappropriate, sarcastic remark August 11, 2019. It was his 42 birthday.
Brett was not a religious person or one to participate with religious institutions, but if there is a heaven you will find Brett at his desk with his laptop with his headphones on staring into the great abys of social media and tasteless memes. Rudy, his pal and confidant, will be at his feet patiently waiting to go on a walk with his frisbee. Just remember if you do find him and he owed you a beer, he will gladly make youlaugh, talk you up and let you buy him another.
Brett's mind was constantly in motion. Some may have called it genius, some labeled it ADD, but people who truly knew him just called it Brett being Brett. He acquired many hobbies over the years. Starting at an early age of riding bikes and skateboarding things quickly spiraled into a love of "cool" cars. Whatever his fascination was at the moment he wanted to be the best and wanted to be the most extreme. Upon moving to the west coast in his twenties Brett graduated with an computer science (IT) degree and began his lifelong fascination with technology and computers. It led him into an industry that was constantly changing and was a fit for his dynamic mindset. A coastal move landed Brett in the Tampa area where he spent the rest of his days. Brett loved singing karaoke, especially in costume and made many friends. He would do just about anything for a laugh. He loved being the center of attention and we loved him for that, most of the time...
Remaining members of his dysfunctional, yet caring immediate family include his parents Frank Luke and Beth Luke both of Ottumwa; siblings his brother Matthew Luke (Rita) of Wisconsin and his brood, Cody, Kimberly, Ambrosia and Braydon, his sister Alair "Bear" Gregory (Tony) of O-Town and her circus, Trisha, Leela, Chester, Bear and Catherine, a half-sister Dawn Suarez (Paco) of Winterset, Iowa. Brett also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, a great niece and a great nephew.
There will be a memorial celebration in honor of Brett Saturday September 28th 4- 9 pm at the Ottumwa VFW. A service will take place at 5 pm for friends and family to share memories of Brett and celebrate the man we knew. Dang Brett!!! This is heartbreaking!! I want to thank you for asking about my kids, your second cousins, often and following what they are doing in life. You were a hell of a smart ass but you definitely cared about family!! I will miss our talks. God bless you!!!

My heart will always have a piece missing. I was fortunate enough to see behind Brett's shenanigans and antics. I got to know the Brett who loved animals and children. I was blessed with the time we had. I will miss you forever.
