Bruce's Story

Bruce Allen Kammerer, 76, of Ottumwa, formerly of New London, died Saturday, December 9, 2017 at his home. He was born August 23, 1941 in Wapello to Lewis Albert and Mazie Louise Heater Kammerer. On June 10, 1967, he married Clare Worden in Monmouth, Illinois; she died July 16, 1984.
He attended Wapello schools and was of the Christian faith. He worked in manufacturing and for many farmers in the area. He was a member of the Ottumwa Eagles Club, and enjoyed dancing, hunting, fishing, and loved being outdoors.
Survivors include sons; James (Melissa), Burlington, Matthew, Nacona, Texas, and Shane (Susan), Shawnee, Kansas; Christopher King, Burlington; daughter, Nanci (Brian) Sterett Biggsville, Illinois; ten grandchildren; special friend of many years, Debbie Nelson of Ottumwa; brother, Gerald (Diana) Kammerer, Morning Sun; sisters, Janet (John) Hilde, Caspar, Wyoming, Karen (Joiner) Yakle, and Sharon (Ron) Whitehorn, both of Wapello; nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by two infant sons.
The memorial service for Bruce Kammerer will be 10:00 AM, December 27th at Elliott Chapel. A memorial has been established. Online condolences may be left at www.elliottfuneralchapel.com.
