Bryan Anthony Shepard, 38, of Ottumwa, died at 12:10 a.m. November 24, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born July 4, 1979 in Ottumwa to Robert and Pamela Cain Shepard. He married Penny Hotalen on April 10, 2009.
A 1997 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Bryan worked as the assistant manager of night stocking at south HyVee.
Bryan was a fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving is his wife, Penny; his parents, Bob and Pam Shepard of Ottumwa; grandfather, Lester Cain of Ottumwa; sisters, Amanda Clark (Brandon Mellencamp) of Urbandale and Natalie Shepard (Lee Texter) of Virginia; 3 step-sons, Phil (Katy) Cook of Madison, WI, James Cook of Sioux Falls, SD, William Cook of West Des Moines; 2 step-grandsons, James and Miles Cook; along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy Shepard, Virginia Schultz and June Cain; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Tom and Doris Hotalen.
His body has been cremated. To celebrate Bryan's life, the family will greet friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home.
