Clyde Richard Knapp, 89, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on January 10, 2018 at the Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. He was born March 26, 1928 in Congerville, Illinois to Fredrick and Leila Reeser Knapp.
Clyde graduated from Eureka High School in 1946. He married the love of his life, Leanna Garber, on January 23, 1949 at the Christian Church in Eureka, Illinois.
Clyde was a lifetime farmer and outdoor enthusiast. He loved fishing and hunting with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Clyde was an active and faithful member at the Pulaski Mennonite Church.
He is survived by his wife, Leanna Knapp of Bloomfield; eight children, Gary (Dianne) Knapp, Sandra (Dean) Amstutz, Roger (Debra) Knapp, Gail (Keith) Amstutz, Bruce (Jeri) Knapp, Eric (Susan) Knapp all of Bloomfield, Judy (Ralph) Marten of Elmira, Canada, Brenda (Patrick) Schmidt of Omaha, Nebraska; 21 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five brothers, Fredrick (Marge) Knapp of Roanoke, Illinois, Loren (Joan) Knapp, Robert (Jean) Knapp, Gerald (Nancy) Knapp all of Eureka, Illinois, Kenneth (Phyllis) Knapp of Palmyra, Missouri; sister, Mary Steffen of Eureka, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Wilbur and Maurice Knapp; and three sisters, Lucille Blunier, Kathryn Funk, and an infant.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Pulaski Mennonite Church with Pastor Darrell Zook officiating. Burial will be at the Pulaski Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield.
