David Paul Belger, 79, of Agency died April 7, 2018 at his home.
He was born October 30, 1938 in Ottumwa to Rev. Paul and Verla Forbes Belger. He married Cassie Gruwell on February 7, 1991.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1957, he attended Indian Hills Community College and served in the Iowa Army National Guard for 21 years.
David owned and operated Belger's Reloading, worked 17 years at Lowenberg Bakery, 10 years for Burlington Northern Railroad and 14 years in maintenance at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center, from where he retired.
He was a member of Ottumwa Baptist Temple.
Surviving is his wife, Cassie; 5 sons, Paul L. Belger of Ottumwa, David C. (Stephanie) Belger of Soldotna, AK, Darin J. Belger of Ankeny, Derek A. Belger of Ottumwa and John D. Belger of Altoona; 4 daughters, Linda M. (Marvin) Stein of Fremont, Verla A. (Doug) Kirk of Oskaloosa, Pamela S. (Jeremy) McClurg of Fremont and Destria D. Belger of Ottumwa; 18 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Travis Decker officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Memorials may be made to Hospice serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
