David E. Carlburg, 79, formerly of Blakesburg, died at 4:45 p.m. November 3, 2017 at Ridgewood Specialty Care in Ottumwa.
He was born September 5, 1938 in Munterville to Bernard and Ruby James Carlberg. He married Jackie L. Donnelson on June 14, 1957 in Albia. She preceded him in death July 27, 2014.
A resident of Blakesburg all of his life, David worked as a farmhand on numerous farms and had worked 10 years for Goods Feed & Seed in Albia.
He loved coon hunting and was a member of the Albia and Ottumwa Saddle Clubs.
Surviving are six daughters, Linda (Stanley) Miller of Bloomfield, Barbara (John) Koffman of Albia, Katie Jarrett of Adamsville, TN, Sherry (David) Lippert of Albia, Toni Sincox of Ottumwa, Renee (Mike) Harryman of Blakesburg; two sons, Buck (Judy) Carlberg of Ottumwa and Joe Carlberg of Blakesburg; fifteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, Denny Carlberg of Portland, OR, Billy Carlberg of Ottumwa, Chucky Carlberg of Hedrick.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three grandchildren; two brothers, Lee and Bruce Carlberg.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home. Cremation will follow the service. Inurnment will be in Blakesburg Cemetery.
Visitation will begin 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
