David Michael Longdo, 76, of Ottumwa, died at 5:22 a.m. March 9, 2018 at home.
He was born June 21, 1941 in Ottumwa to Lloyd P and Clara Lorretto Quinn Longdo. He married Betsy Morrison in 1974 and they later divorced. He married Sandra Aeschliman Scott on June 8, 1995.
An Ottumwa resident most of his life, David was a 1959 graduate of Walsh High School and a 1974 graduate of St. Ambrose University. He was a U.S. Army veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict.
David worked for 31 years for John Deere Ottumwa Works, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Questors and was an avid postcard collector.
Surviving is his wife, Sandra; his children, Erin Longdo of Walnut Creek, CA, Shannan Cowan of Ottumwa and Steven Longdo of West Des Moines; step-children, Tamara Hein of Tipton, IN and Dr. Randall (Cathi) Scott of Mission, KS; 6 grandchildren, Dakota Boyer, Kassidy Cowan, Phoenix Fort, Jacob Hein, Nathan Hein and Devon Scott; a great-granddaughter, Rhiannon Scott; a brother, Phillip Longdo of Arlington, TX; 2 sisters, Jeanie (Bud) Sanders of Keswick and Dorothy (Gary) Dunn of Waterloo; 15 nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Kathy Sanders; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harold and Doris Aeschliman.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
