Dennis James O'Leary Sr., age 60, of Ottumwa, died on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
He was born on August 17, 1956 to John and Dorothy (Plowman) O'Leary. He graduated from Ottumwa High School.
Dennis was enlisted with the United States Navy for fifteen years. He worked for Dr. Pepper Snapple Group in Ottumwa. He was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan, and he enjoyed woodworking.
Dennis is survived by his life partner, Bobbi Roling of Ottumwa; two children, Dennis Jr. (Randi) O'Leary of Ottumwa, Devvin (Jarren) Goode of Oskaloosa, four grandchildren, Tori and Trystin Coker, Brinden and Taryn O'Leary; step-daughter, Jamie (John) Kramer of Tula, OK, step grandchildren, Michaela, Lexi, Jonathan, and Joshua. He is also survived by two sisters, Kathy (Ron) Giberson of Agency, Pat Cravens of Columbia, MO, four brothers, Michael (Mary) O'Leary, John (Carol) O'Leary, Tim (Amanda) O'Leary, Mick (Denisa) O'Leary all of Ottumwa, and sister-in-law, Pam O'Leary. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy, sister, Maureen Merchant, brother, Tom O'Leary, and step-daughter, Kari Chamberlain.
Dennis has been cremated per his wishes. Graveside Services with Military rites conducted by the VFW and the American Legion of Ottumwa will be held at Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Ottumwa at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 16, 2017 with Father Patrick Hilgendorf officiating. Memorials may be directed to Heartland Humane Society, or the VFW of Ottumwa, or the American Legion of Ottumwa. Services are entrusted with Sinnott Funeral Homes.
