Dixie Lee Murphy, 79, of 102 W. Finley died at 7:57 a.m. October 15, 2017 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born September 10, 1938 in Ottumwa to Charles and Ruth Holton Nevins. She married Larry Jess Murphy February 26, 1966. He preceded her in death February 26, 1996.
A resident of Ottumwa all of her life, she graduated from Ottumwa High School. She worked in the Clerk of Court Office at the Wapello County Court House for many years.
She enjoyed gardening, reading and especially taking care of her grandchildren and family.
Surviving are two daughters, Rachael (Shawn) Miller and Lisa Murphy both of Blakesburg; 4 step-children, Dan Murphy (Kim McDonald), Judy Murphy and Joni Murphy all of Ottumwa and Nancy Murphy of Cedar Rapids; 8 grandchildren, Jill, Dustin, Jacob, Jessica, Nicole, Justin, Liam and Aidan; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Bonnie Ray (Russ Stock) of Le Claire, IA; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Charlie Murphy; 3 sisters, Jonlyn Engstrom, Nancy O'Brien and Martha Hunt.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with her niece, Rev. Angie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the family.
