Doris L. Lawson, 92, of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born on August 6, 1925 near Troy, Iowa to Clarence and Grace Robbins Jones. She married Donald Lawson on December 11, 1954 in Bloomfield. Donald passed away on February 7, 1998.
Doris attended the Troy High School and graduated in 1942. She then moved to Bloomfield and worked as a cook at the Royal Café for several years. When she married Donald, they moved to a farm south of Monterey and raised their family. She was a member of the Monterey Christian Church and the Welcome Neighbors Club. She enjoyed family gatherings, reading, and cooking.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary (Wes Potter) Lawson of Bloomfield; three sons, Bill (Sherrie) Lawson, Bob (Vickey) Lawson, Larry Lawson all of rural Bloomfield; two granddaughters, Amanda (Kyle) Payne, Ashton Lawson; great-granddaughter, Addison Payne; brother-in-law, Ronald (Letha) Lawson; sister-in-law, Doris V. Lawson; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; four brothers, Ralph, Max, Rex, and Hunter Jones; and two infant sisters.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 7, 2017 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield with Rev. Reg Higgenbottom officiating. Burial will be at the Sunset View Cemetery north of Moulton, Iowa. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 5-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
