William Douglas Deitch, 52, of Ottumwa, went home to be with the Lord at 2:17 a.m. February 24, 2017 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born October 21, 1964 in Ottumwa to Terry Wayne and Dorothy Maxine Grimes Deitch.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School, Doug served in the U.S. Army with the 101st Airborne. He was a professional pipefitter/welder having worked for Universal Rundle.
Doug loved music, reading books, loved life , kids and people, was an excellent artist who was full of energy and a funny, free spirit. He walked everywhere he went.
For the past 8 years, he was active in The Bridge Church.
Surviving is his son, Nick; his father, Terry Deitch of Ottumwa; a sister, Candie Dickel of Ottumwa; a brother, Dusty Deitch of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy and a brother, Michael.
His body has been cremated and a time to celebrate his life will be at a later date.
Memorials may be made to The Bridge Church or Blessings Soup Kitchen.
