Dwayne Drummond, 94, of Keosauqua, formerly of Ottumwa died at 2:20 p.m. September 2, 2019 at Keosauqua Health Care Center.
He was born September 29, 1924 in Decatur County, IA to Edward and Ermil Frost Drummond. He married Donnavee D. Fisher on June 3, 1945 and she preceded him in death on July 15, 2011.
Dwayne served with the Merchant Marines traveling around the world and with the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II.
He worked in Greenland for Peter Kiewit, a government contractor, for 9 months. Dwayne owned and operated truck stops in Lamoni and in Ainsworth and for over 30 years he owned and operated Drummond Tire & Oil in Ottumwa. He had been a member of the Civil Air Patrol in Ottumwa, serving as squadron leader. Dwayne was a pilot, he loved flying, riding motorcycles and boating.
He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ, Keosauqua Restoration Branch where he served as Deacon and Teacher. He had been a member of Ottumwa Masonic Lodge #16 A.F. & A.M. Dwayne loved his family and they were everything to him.
He is survived by his children, Claudia Boyer of Connell, WA, Dave (Kathy) Drummond of Farmington and Doug (Carol) Drummond of Ottumwa; daughter-in-law, Mary Drummond of Grain Valley, MO; 10 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Dwayne was preceded in death by his son and daughter-in-law, Arthur "Bud" and Ruth Ann Drummond; a son-in-law, Ronald Boyer; a great-grandson, Logan Halbrook; siblings, L.D. Drummond, Buster Drummond, his twin, Wayne Drummond, Mary Malone and Babe Jackson.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Burial will be in Green Glade Cemetery in Farmington.

Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Thursday. The family will greet friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on Friday.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Church of Jesus Christ, Keosauqua Restoration Branch.

I am so sorry to hear about Dwayne. Mom sends her condolences, as well. I will never forget when my dad was going through radiation and Donna and Dwayne asked Mom and Dad to stay with them as traveling was too much for them. So they stayed with them. Being the good-hearted people Donna and Dwayne were.... Even though Dad had pain, they really enjoyed their company and friendship! Such a blessing!! Hugs and prayers for all of you....🙏🙏♥️♥️
