Gwendolyn "Elaine" Lyon who entered this life on September 19, 1929 passed away on February 7, 2018 at 88 years old.
She was the daughter of Cecil and Edith Lyon and had one sister, Beatrice Whalen. Elaine graduated from Ottumwa High School in 1947 and went on to attend Pella Central College and Kansas City Art Institute. She was employed by the Bell Phone Company as a telephone operator for two years.
After years of friendship, Elaine married her sweetheart Robert "Bob" Warren, December 30, 1951 in the Ottumwa Methodist Church where she was a member. Moving into their new home, on the already established Warren farm near Eldon, they began raising a family of their own.
Elaine was an active member of the following: P.E.O. a philanthropic organization for the advancement and education of women, Eastern Star, Eldon Methodist Church, then Ottumwa Hickory Grove Community Church.
Raising five children was her full-time love and passion along with life on the farm with her husband Robert. She will be missed greatly by family and friends and remembered as a sweet, gracious lady who embraced the word of God.
She is preceded in death by her husband Robert Sands Warren, her parents Cecil and Edith Lyon, her sister Beatrice Lyon Whalen, and grandson Matthew Warren.
Left to honor her memory are her children: David Emory (Metchie), Steven Mark (Sophia), Linda Diane (David), Richard Stanley (Rebecca), Mark Brian (Angel). Her loving grandchildren as follows: Kenneth, Scott, Kyla Mae; Stephanie, Josiah, Gilford, Veena, Clifford, Denford; Nicole, Jordan, Drew; Nathan, Michael, Brandon. Eight great grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Hickory Grove Community Church with Pastor Wes Van Antwerp officiating. Burial will be in Eldon Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of memorials may be made to Hickory Grove Community Church Missions.
