Frances's Story

Frances was born in Davis County, Iowa on Thursday, April 13, 1916 to Christian and ClaraEtta (Weede) Aeschliman. Frances passed away peacefully in Tulsa, Oklahoma on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the age of 101.

Frances attended high school in Bloomfield, Iowa. On May 6, 1939, Frances married Park W. Petefish in Lancaster, Missouri and they settled in Ottumwa, Iowa. Their union was blessed with one daughter. Frances was a wonderful wife and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a stay at home mom who was an outstanding cook, loved music, enjoyed gardening, reading a good book, playing cards with friends, but most of all, she enjoyed time with her family. She was a member of the Willard Street Methodist Church, the Eagles, the Red Hat Society and American Legion. Following Parks death in 1989, Frances married Orlan Snyder of Independence, Iowa on December 7, 1995. They resided at Pennsylvania Place Retirement Community in Ottumwa, Iowa. Frances enjoyed participating in various activities throughout the retirement center including card games, bingo and meeting new friends.

Frances was preceeded in death by her parents, Christian and ClaraEtta Aeschilman; husband, Park Petefish; husband, Orlan Snyder; three sisters, Florence Battin, Carrie Bennett, and Verta Mae Aeschliman; and three brothers, Carl Aeschliman, Willis Aeschliman, and Wendell Aeschliman.

Frances is survived by her loving daughter, Linda Meek of Tulsa; grandson, Christopher Meek and Tammy Galvis of Marietta, Georgia; granddaughter, Angie Waymire and husband Jimmy of Broken Arrow; two great-grand-daughters, Abigail and Caroline Waymire of Broken Arrow; brother-in-law, John Petefish and wife Ada of Bloomfield, Iowa; sister in law, Mary Snoddy of Kansas; along with numerous other extended family members.

Francess amazing life will forever be cherished in the lives of her daughter, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was pure-hearted and her kind and gentle spirit truly set the bar for loving and caring for others. Her authenticity and ability to see the beauty in peoples hearts will never be forgotten. We will miss your sweet smile and positive outlook and we will always love and treasure you in our hearts.

Services honoring the life of Frances Petefish Snyder will be at 10:00am, Saturday, May 20, 2017 at Memorial Park Chapel in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Visitation will be at Moores Southlawn Funeral Home on Thursday, May 18th with family there to greet visitors from 6:00pm to 8:00pm. Share memories at: www.moorefuneral.com
