Frank Dean Hartman, 87, of Ottumwa, died at 9:10 p.m. February 14, 2018 at home.
He was born November 11, 1930 in Ottumwa to Frank and Lulu Williams Hartman. He married Lois Hollingsworth on November 5, 1960.
A 1948 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Dean served in the U.S. Army 1956 to 1958. In 1950 he began working for the Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring as a conductor in 1991.
He was a member of Willard St. United Methodist Church, Burlington Northern Retirees and United Transportation Union Local #195.
Surviving is his wife, Lois; 2 daughters, Christine Hartman and LuAnn Hartman both of Ottumwa; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Strayer, Heather (Derek) Shaw and Christopher (Megan) Bettin; 8 great- grandchildren, Tanner, Emma, Madison, Myiah, Mason, Taylor, Temperance and Zachariah; a sister, Maycel Rowland of Ottumwa and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Dale and Jack Hartman and an infant brother; a nephew, Wayne Rowland.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Willard St. United Methodist Church with Rev. Jon Disburg officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Willard St. United Methodist Church or Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties.
