Frederick Daniel Guiter, 69, of Batavia, died July 1, 2017 at his home.
He was born July 25, 1947 in Maryville, MO to Loren F. and Nancy Jane Townsend Guiter. He married Carol Dockstader on April 29, 1967.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1966, he earned his AA degree from Indian Hills Community College in Centerville.
Fred had many careers working for the Milwaukee and Burlington Northern Railroads, as an insurance adjuster through Farm Bureau, building many houses and owning his own lumber yard, "2 x 4 Lumber". He also owned a used car lot and camper sales.
He greatly loved spending time with all of his family, especially at holidays and birthdays.
Surviving is his wife, Carol; a daughter, Robin (Travis) Larrington of Bloomfield; a son, Aaron (Amy) Guiter of Johnston; 5 grandchildren, Kaitlynn Larrington, Sophia Guiter, Grant Guiter, Audrey Guiter and Gretta Guiter; a sister, Katherine (Kerm) Kirchoff of Overland Park, KS; two brothers, Tom (Sherri) Guiter of Odessa, TX and Terry (Barb) Guiter of Ottumwa; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Christopher Guiter and Guy "Joe" Guiter.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Ward officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Food Bank of Southern Iowa.
