Gene Arnold Neubert Jr., 56, of Ottumwa died November 24, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
He was born November 13, 1961 in Chicago, IL to Gene Arnold and Delsie Duncan Neubert Sr.
Having attended Ottumwa High School, Gene had worked as a cook in a restaurant in Fairfield and as a telemarketer.
His passion was music, playing his guitar and singing in a band. He also enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Chicago Cubs.
Surviving are two daughters, Sara Nicole Neubert of Ottumwa and Starrlynn Ford of Texas; 3 grandchildren; his mother, Delsie Mills; two brothers, Bob (Linda) Thomason of Ottumwa and Donnie Jo Duncan of Kentucky; a sister, Donna Borowycz of Drakesville.
He was preceded in death by his father; a brother, Larry Thomason; his step-father, Woodson Mills; a nephew, Bobby Thomason and brother-in-law, Steve Borowycz.
Visitation will be open after 11 a.m. Tuesday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
His body will be cremated following the visitation.
Graveside services and inurnment will be 3:30 p.m. Wednesday at Shaul Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Camel Club.
