Geraldine's Story

Geraldine Proctor Estes was born in Ottumwa, Iowa to Allen & Alice (Robb) Proctor of Ash Grove, IA on Sept 21, 1920. She went home to be with the Lord on April 13, 2017 at age 96. She was the youngest of 5 sisters. She married Walter Estes in 1940. They lived in the Ottumwa, IA area until 1973, when they moved to Golden, CO after the John Morrell plant closed. In 1984 they moved to Cody, WY. Walter passed away in 2004. In 2009 Geraldine moved to Minneapolis to be near her daughter. She was active at First Baptist Church in Ottumwa. She was the granddaughter of the first man from Davis County Iowa to enlist in the Civil War. She was a care giver to her handicapped sister and aged mother. She loved music, playing the organ at church, sewing, cooking, flowers and doing thing for her children & grandchildren. She is survived by her son Dan (Connie) of Anchor Point, AK(formerly of Cody, WY), daughter JaNan E Cavanaugh of Maple Grove, MN, 5 grandchildren , 7 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and friends. Burial of her ashes will be in Cody at a later date.
