Harlan McCoy, 90, of Ottumwa, died October 8, 2017 at his home.
He was born August 28, 1927 in Lovilia to Harlan R. and Edna Mae Nedderman McCoy. He married Ruby Stogdill on December 26, 1953 and she preceded him in death on November 14, 2007.
Harlan was a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Navy having served during World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He worked for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 17 years, retiring in 1989.
He was a life member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion, a member of Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fleet Reserve and John Deere Retirees.
Surviving are his children, Debbie (Frank) Hockaday of Moline, IL and Harlan Joseph McCoy of Ottumwa; 4 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Alan Lee McCoy and a sister, Wilma King.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery with military services conducted by O. B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Friday.
