Harold Rae McCullough, 95, of Ottumwa, died at 2:30 a.m. November 14, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born December 31, 1921 in Downing, MO to Noel Ray and Mabel May York McCullough. Harold grew up on a farm in northern Missouri and attended a country school. He married Earline Brown on September 15, 1948 and she preceded him in death on May 28, 1997. He married Maxine Dawson Moffit on July 3, 1999 and she preceded him in death on July 23, 2009.
Harold was a World War II veteran serving in the U.S. Army in France, Germany, Holland and Belgium and was in St. Louis awaiting orders when the war ended.
After the service he worked in a garage in Bloomfield for 2 years and he then moved to Ottumwa where he built a house on Madison Ave. Harold worked in the auto body shop at Glover Ford from August 1948 until retiring on November 29, 1986.
Harold attended the Church of the Brethren in Ottumwa and was a past member of Reed-Whisler Post #78 American Legion in Bloomfield.
Surviving are his step-children; step-grandchildren; step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Gordon McCullough and two sisters, Bernice Cossell and Margaret Williams.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis Doud officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present one hour prior to the service on Friday.
Memorials may be made St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Hospitals for Children.
