Helen Bernice Harris, 106, of Bloomfield, Iowa passed away December 11, 2017 at the Bloomfield Care Center. She was born November 19, 1911 in Moulton, Iowa to Harlan and Ethel Wendland Carr. She was one of 13 children. She graduated from Moulton High School and on May 4, 1931, married Willis Clayton Harris in Lancaster, Missouri. The couple had one child, Willis Cleon Harris. Willis Clayton Harris passed away on April 18, 2002.
Helen had worked at the R&L Truck Stop in Bloomfield for 25 years. She enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and sewing. She loved her family and all the visitors that came to see her at the care center. Helen was also a huge Iowa Hawkeyes Fan and never missed watching a game.
The family would like to thank all of Grannys second family at the Care Center who took special care of her.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Janice (Larry Robinson) Dove of Centerville, Iowa, Rick (Pam) Harris of Bloomfield; six great-grandchildren, Ginger (Jason) Burgin, Gidget (Scott) Arnold, Haley Chance, Charlie (Erin) Harris, Travis (Kristi) Harris, Roxanne (Adam) Harris; 12 great-great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Carr Batterson, Erma Carr; and a special friend she called Birthday Buddy, Jack Kirby.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Willis Harris; son, Cleon Harris; daughter-in-law, Sara Harris; brothers, Lewis Carr, John Carr, Mack Carr, Rex Carr; sisters, Romaine Heither, Barbara Winger, Betty Cairns, Jeanette Parman; infant siblings, Ralph, Deloris, and Mildred Carr; and great-great-grandson, Zachary Barber.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 15, 2017 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial will be at the West Grove Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service.
