Herschel Fowler, 85, of Ottumwa, died September 10, 2017 at Riverview Manor in Ozark, MO.
He was born October 24, 1931 in Livonia, MO to Carl D. and Odetta Marie Newman Fowler. He married Neva Juanita Beck on September 3, 1950 and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2017.
Herschel worked for John Morrell & Co. for 25 years. He hauled concrete and gravel in a dump truck he owned and also owned and operated a window cleaning business for several years.
Herschel and his wife moved from Ottumwa to Centerville in 1981, moving back to Ottumwa in 2008.
Herschel loved music and performed in the Rhythm Playboys. He was an excellent gardener and loved the outdoors.
Surviving are two daughters, Theresa (Gary) Keasling and Treva Boatman, both of Ottumwa; four grandchildren, Travis (Sarah) Hougland, Aaron (Jessica) Hougland, Kurt (Jessie) Keasling and Lorelle (Jeremy) Hopkins; 9 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, Gregg Fowler.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Elder Kenneth Tipton officiating. Burial will be in Rose Cemetery near Graysville, MO.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Memorials may be made to the family to be designated at a later date.
