Ivan LeRoy Armentrout, 92, of Ottumwa died at 8:10 a.m. January 13, 2018 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born December 25, 1925 in Ottumwa to Lee and Cora Martin Armentrout. He married Loretta Paxton on October 19, 1946. She preceded him in death November 5, 2013.
A proud graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1944, he served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He had worked for 40 years as a frame and body man for Glover Ford and Ottumwa Ford, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Bloomfield. Ivan was also a member of O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and had been a member of Soap Creek Rebels Saddle Club.
Surviving are 3 daughters, Connie (Danny) Bircher of Ottumwa, Beverly (Lawrence) Woten Jr. of Ottumwa and Sherie (Dennis) Saylor of Blakesburg; a son, David (Kathy) Armentrout of Mesa, AZ; 10 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Mildred Smith, Gladys MacLearn and Doris Todd; three brothers, Orville Armentrout, Harry Eugene Armentrout and infant, Harold Armentrout.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastors Dick Allen and R.J. Montis officiating. Military services will be conducted by O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion and Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service.
Per his request, his body will be cremated after the service. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene in Bloomfield, First Church of the Nazarene in Fairfield, or Hospice serving Wapello and Davis Counties.
