Jeffrey L. Crosson, 64, of Bettendorf passed away unexpectedly, surrounded by his family on Friday, January 5, at Genesis Medical Center East, Davenport. Jeffrey was born in 1953 in Oskaloosa, IA, the son of Lane Lawrence and Betty Lou Crosson. He married Mary Heyn in 1982, and, although their marriage was later dissolved, they remained committed to their sons.
Jeffrey graduated from Iowa State University with an engineering degree and began a 34-year distinguished career with John Deere. His career with John Deere involved many different responsibilities, projects, and assignments. Jeffrey learned to fly airplanes with the goal of building his own plane. He enjoyed the outdoors. Among his greatest loves was hunting and/or fishing with his sons. In 2014, Jeff took the hunting trip of his dreams, hunting large game in Africa. He also loved to cook for his family, creating amazing meals and drafting his own yet unpublished cookbook.
Survivors include his sons, HM2 Matthew Crosson, US Navy, and Alexander Crosson, all of LeClaire, IA; a brother, Bradley (Mariellen) Crosson, Bettendorf; nieces, Katharine and Evangelia Crosson. Also honoring his memory are Mary (Heyn) Crosson; common-law-sister Janet Capper; dear friend Svetlana V. (Prokova) Johnson; and his loyal K9 companion, Gidget.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Nora Lee Crosson.
