Jill E. Burns, 83, of Ottumwa, died at 11:05 a.m. March 5, 2018 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
She was born September 15, 1934 in Nebraska to John and Dorothy Garrett Stewart. She married Alvin Raymond "RayRay" Burns on October 9, 1953 and he preceded her in death on April 15, 2017.
A graduate of West Port High School in Kansas City, MO, Jill had worked as a bill collector for Conoco in Cedar Rapids and for Target and Big Apple Bagel in Ottumwa.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. Jill was a volunteer for Hospice Serving Davis and Wapello Counties Auxiliary and St. Joseph Hospital Auxiliary. She was an active member of the Ottumwa Service League and helped produce the "Follies" for many years. Jill enjoyed bowling, golfing, quilting, genealogy and was a master bridge player.
Surviving are her three sons, Raymond Burns of Ottumwa, John (Debbie) Burns of Owasso, OK and Charles (Rose) Burns of Des Moines; her daughter, Linda (Robert) Parker of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren; 11 great- grandchildren and 4 nieces, Jackie, Sharon, Beverly and Dottie.
She was preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Jack and LaVerne Stewart.
Her body has been cremated and private family services will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church.
