Jim L. Alexander, 80, of Ottumwa, died at 6:28 p.m. January 18, 2018 at Ridgewood Specialty Care.
He was born December 11, 1937 in Ottumwa to James Henry and Mary Dixie Roby Alexander. He married Nancy Sue Haff on August 20, 1970.
A 1956 graduate of Ottumwa High School, he attended Northeast Missouri State Teachers College and graduated from Iowa Success School.
Jim served with the U.S. Army and U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam Conflict.
He had worked for Iowa Southern Utilities, John Morrell & Co., Master Plumbers and retired from State of Iowa Child Support.
Jim was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church.
Surviving is his wife, Nancy; two daughters, Angie Alexander (Jon Muchow) and Amanda (Chad) Meyer both of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren, Kristen, Jason, Jeremy, Sydney, Jameson, Peyton and Addison; a great-granddaughter, Payge; and a brother, Bill (Pam) Alexander of Ottumwa.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Sandra Jo.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Jeremy Skinner officiating.
Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Plymouth Congregational Church.
