James Henry Lee, 94, of Ottumwa, died January 14, 2018 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
He was born October 25, 1923 in Ottumwa to Harold and Lily North Lee. He married Lucille Miller on October 15, 1944.
A 1942 graduate of Ottumwa High School, James had worked at John Morrell & Co. for 5 years prior to farming for over 60 years.
He was a member of Garfield Masonic Lodge #485 A.F. & A.M. in Hedrick for over 50 years, Hedrick Chapter #362 Order of Eastern Star, and a member of Izaak Walton League. He had been a volunteer at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
Jim and Lucille enjoyed their winters in Texas for over 30 years where he was very involved with shuffleboard. He was president of the Texas Shuffleboard for 10 years and was inducted into the Texas Hall of Fame of Shuffleboard. James enjoyed being a ham radio operator for many years.
Surviving is his wife, Lucille; a daughter, Barbara Swaim of West Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Vicki Lee of Waverly; 4 grandchildren, Mark (Lisa) Lee of Lafayette, IN, Kevin (Dawn) Lee of Waverly, Joe (Theresa) Swaim of Waukee and Jill (Aaron) Davis of Waukee; 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Ronald Lee and son-in-law, Sam Swaim.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Winger Board Room at Pennsylvania Place with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Inurnment will be in McCormick Cemetery at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice Serving Davis & Wapello Counties.
