Josephine Ruth Dixon, 81, of Marshalltown, Iowa and former resident of rural Bloomfield, Iowa passed away on November 11, 2017 at the Iowa River Hospice House in Marshalltown. She was born September 9, 1936 in Bloomfield to Millard and Nellie Tharp Padget. She married Teddy Dixon on February 2, 1956 in Mark, Iowa. Teddy passed away on May 15, 2011.
Josephine was a daycare provider for 22 years and worked at the Friends senior care facility after moving back to Bloomfield. She was a member of Farm Bureau and the Bible Baptist Church in Ottumwa, Iowa. She was a loving wife, devoted mother, and doting grandmother.
She is survived by a daughter, Kimberly (Clint) Neal of Pembroke Pines, Florida; son, Cletus (Jody) Dixon of Laurel, Iowa; four grandchildren, Sharon, Michelle, Caleb, Cody; and six great-grandchildren, Stephen, William, Amelia, Kayleigh, Colton, and Evalyn.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and two brothers, James and Junior Padget.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield with Pastor Ed Matthews officiating.
