Kathryn Ballalatak, age 100, of Albia, formerly of Lovilia, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 15, 2017, at the Monroe County Hospital in Albia.
She was born on July 23, 1916 in Weller, Iowa to Edmond and Margaret (Kelly) Welsh. She was united in marriage to Joe Ballalatak on February 16, 1942 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lovilia. They were blessed with four children: Bill, Larry, Dean, and Gary. Joe passed away on October 25, 1982.
Kathryn was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lovilia, and St. Peter's Altar and Rosary. She enjoyed cooking, playing cards, baking, and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, Bill (Betty) Ballalatak of Grimes, Dean (Vicki) Ballalatak of Lovilia, Gary (Karen) Ballalatak of Lovilia, daughter-in-law, Joyce Ballalatak of Marshalltown, nine grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmond and Margaret Welsh; husband, Joe Ballalatak; son, Larry Ballalatak, and brothers, Bill Welsh, Edward Welsh, and infant Wilford Welsh.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 18, 2017, at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lovilia with Father Mark Yates officiating and Deacon Edwin Kamerick assisting. Burial will follow in St Peter's Cemetery in Lovilia. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, opening to the public at 1:00 p.m., and family will be present from 5-7 p.m., at Sinnott Funeral Home, Gilbert Chapel in Lovilia. There will be a Christian Wake Service at 6:00 p.m., Friday evening at the Funeral Home in Lovilia. Memorials directed to family wishes.
