Keith's Story

Keith Henry Nalley was born on the family farm north of Pulaski, Iowa on July 31, 1925 to Henry Franklin and Huldah Lenore Sommer Nalley. He passed away at home in his sleep on January 7, 2018 at the age of 92 years, five months, and seven days.

Keith graduated with the class of 1943 from Pulaski High School. When he was a Junior in school a dark-haired beauty named Jaunita Merryman caught his eye and heart. Upon graduation he joined the Marines at the age of 17 at the height of WWII. After returning from war, he married Jaunita on February 22, 1947. The couple had two children, Craig and Carla.

Keith and Jaunita farmed north of Pulaski, raising corn, beans, hay, cattle, hogs, chickens, and children. In 1961, he worked hard and was hired by the U.S. Postal Service as a rural carrier and worked for the post office until retirement in 1989.

In his free time, Keith enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and traveling. He was a fifty-year-member of the American Legion.

He is survived by his daughter, Carla (Terry) Petersen of Altoona, Iowa; six grandchildren, Janelle (Jake) Nalley-Londquist of Mediapolis, Iowa, Eric (Jill) Nalley of Sperry, Iowa, Justin Nalley of Burlington, Iowa, Cory Fleming, Chad (Mitzi) Fleming, Cari Fleming all of Bloomfield, Iowa; ten adored great-grandchildren; and three nieces.

He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife; son, Craig Nalley; sister, Mildred Hartley; and brother, Carl Nalley.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, January 12, 2018 at the Wagler Funeral Home in Bloomfield. Burial will be at the IOOF Cemetery in Bloomfield. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Friday with the family present to greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
