Larry Eugene Eakins, 74, of Ottumwa, died at 9:50 p.m. October 24, 2017 at the Lone Tree Health Care Center in Lone Tree.
He was born November 2, 1942 in Kansas City, KS to Beryl and Vera Brittain Eakins. He married Joanna Ancell on November 23, 1968.
Larry was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam War. An Ottumwa resident most of his life, he was a driver for Ideal Ready Mix. Larry served on the Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion firing squad.
Surviving is his wife, Joanna; daughters, Maryann Eakins and Terri Main; 4 grandchildren, Avery Brower, Matthew Keller, Clarissa Williams and Wyatt Williams; sisters, Betty Chance and Charlotte Brommel.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Linda.
His body has been cremated.
Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Chaplain Doug McAntire officiating. Inurnment will be in Shaul Cemetery with military services conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion.
