Lawrence Hammond Lawrence Hammond, 84, formerly of Ottumwa, died at 9:20 a.m. January 7, 2019 at Regency Assisted Living in Norwalk.
He was born November 1, 1934 in Appanoose County, IA to George W. and Mabel Mary Murphy Hammond. He married Carol M. Montgomery on December 24, 1953.
Lawrence had worked at John Morrell & Co., A-1 Auto Parts, Home Oil Co. and had owned and operated Hammond Standard and Universal Welding with his wife.
Lawrence is survived by his wife, Carol; a son, Ronnie (Kim) Hammond of Cumming; a daughter, Kathy Duncan (Kerry Chisman) of Cumming; a daughter-in-law, Dianne Hammond of Ottumwa; 7 grandchildren, Jake, Dusty, Jessica, Robby, Ron Jr., John and Derek; 18 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Hammond; son-in-law, Brad Duncan; two sisters, his twin, Lorraine Rinehart and Jean Irwin.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Brown officiating. Burial will be in Thompson Cemetery west of Hartford, MO.
Visitation begins at 1 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.
Memorials may be made to the Thompson Cemetery Association.

Once more I'm sharing with you as we all mourn losing Lawrence. My thots and prayers are with all of you: especially his wife Carol and children Ron and Kathy, as his grandchildren. As you lean on HIM, may God grant you peace and. solace during these grievous times; &Bless; you and comfort you as you treasured memories.
