Marilyn J. Potter, 87, of Ottumwa died at 10:48 a.m. July 15, 2017 at Vista Woods Care Center.
She was born May 14, 1930 in Ottumwa to Lawrence and Marie Taylor Vogel. She married John A. Potter July 30, 1950. He preceded her in death September 4, 2016.
A graduate of Ottumwa High School in 1948, she worked for John Morrell and Co for 15 years and in the office for John Deere Ottumwa Works for 20 years. She and her husband started M & J Picture Framing and owned the business for 25 years.
A member of the First Christian Church, Marilyn served as deacon, and was a member of King's Daughters. She enjoyed sewing, handiwork and especially being a grandmother.
Surviving is a son, John A. Potter of Centralia, MO; two daughters, Elizabeth (Gregory) Gritton of Las Vegas, NV and Jana (Tim) Hardie of Ottumwa; grandchildren Katherine (Mark) Horton, Jason Gritton, Mitchell, Alexander and Jackson Hardie; a great grandson, Harrison Horton.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Thelma Barnhart.
Her body has been cremated. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Mel Kendall officiating. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation with the family present will be one hour prior to the service.
