Martha Sue Hunt, 73, of Ottumwa, died at 7:07 a.m. September 25, 2017 at Ottumwa Regional Health Center.
She was born December 20, 1943 in Ottumwa to Charles and Ruth Holton Nevins. Martha married Dale Phillips and they later divorced. She married Roger Hunt on September 7, 1974 and he preceded her in death on December 21, 1994.
A resident of Ottumwa most of her life, Martha had worked as a waitress, tended bar at the Eagles and Owl's Nest and had worked at Tenco.
She was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary Aerie #114, Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary and O.B. Nelson Unit #3 Auxiliary.
Surviving are her children, Angie Phillips (Pam Williams) of Ottumwa, Martyn (Tanya) Phillips of Ottumwa and Donny (Lisa) Phillips of Cedar Rapids; her stray that stayed, Sonya Chapin; 6 grandchildren, Michael Phillips, Ashley (Eric) Hopkins, Sydnee Phillips, Savanna Phillips, Allison (Jason) Monohon and Logan (Candy) Chapin; 3 great-grandchildren, Kinnick Monohon, Kinley Monohon and Natalee Chapin; 2 sisters, Dixie Murphy of Ottumwa and Bonnie Ray (Russ Stock) of Le Claire, IA; 5 sisters-in-law, Patty McElroy, Vicky Weil, Dixie Clary, Cathy Davidson and Sharon Mier all of Ottumwa; 2 brothers-in-law, Ronnie (Marie) Davidson and Bill Davidson both of Ottumwa.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Jonlyn Engstrom and Nancy O'Brien and a nephew, Greg O'Brien.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Reece Funeral Home with her daughter, Rev. Angie Phillips officiating. Burial will be in Ottumwa Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Friday with the family present from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
