Mary Frances Aldridge Burtis, formerly of Hedrick, IA passed away peacefully March 26, 2017 at the age of 90. She was born March 10, 1927, the daughter of Maurice and Hazel Rhoads Aldridge at Butler, IA. Mary was a 1944 graduate of Hedrick High School. Early she worked at the candy counter at Spurgeon's in Ottumwa later opening her own business called Mary's Shoppe in Hedrick. She was married to Lloyd Burtis and later divorced. To this union is one son, Steven M. Burtis. The family moved to Colorado and Mary retired from CenTex and Pizza Supply of Boulder, CO.
Mary is survived by her son, Steven; two granddaughters - Katie (Griffin) Forshee and Lauren (Ben) Tidwell, both of Centennial, CO; two great-grandchildren - Logan and Lyla Forshee; one sister - Virginia Dalbey of Fremont, IA; and one brother, Fred (Cleo) Aldridge of Aurora, CO.
Mary was preceded in death by one grandson - Christopher Burtis; one sister and brother-in-law - Evelyn (Glen) Stocking; one brother and sister-in-law - Edward Paul (Louise) Aldridge; and one brother-in-law - Floyd Dalbey.
A celebration of Mary's life was held April 10, 2017 at the Dixon Chapel at Cherry Hills Community Church. Memorial contributions can be made to the Christopher Burtis Foundation, 6120 Greenwood Plaza Blvd., Greenwood Village, CO 80111, in memory of her grandson.
