Mary's Story

Mary Heston Winn Hay, passed away August 30, 2016, in the home of her niece, Deanna Estes, in Crawfordsville, Iowa at the age of 94. She was cremated per her request. Mary was born March 4, 1922, in Clarke County, Iowa. She was born to Rolland M. Bessie Goben Heston of Clarke County, the third of nine children. In March 1941, she was united in marriage to Perry Vernon Winn of Clarke County, Kahoka, Missouri. To this union was born Larry, Judy and Jerome. She and her family were faithful members of the Ollie Baptist Church. They started Winn Trucking in Ollie. In January, 1955, Perry passed away. In March, 1965, she married R. Glenn Hay of Fairfield. To this marriage he brought four children, Janice, Tish, Ron and Bobby. Mary and Glenn were members of the Nazarene Church in Fairfield. They owned and operated Hay and Son Concrete in Fairfield. In 1985, she and Glenn started Grace Family Church in Ollie. Glenn passed away in 1994 in Massillon, Ohio. Mary returned to Ollie in 2005. There were three things Mary was passionate about: her family, leading others to Christ and beading jewelry.
Mary is survived by her three children, Larry and Diana of Tucson, Arizona, Judy and Bobby Riether of Yuma, Arizona, and Jerome and Judy of Ollie. She is survived by three step children, Tish and Ray McNeese of West Burlington, Ron Hay of Cape Giraurdo, Missouri and Bob and Kathy Hay of Ottumwa, one brother, Jerry and Trudy Heston of Ankeny and one brother-in-law, Ron Parmer of Osceola, 18 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brothers, Everette Heston and George Allen Heston, sisters, Iona Toney, Betty Williams, Joann Parmer, Genevieve Butler, Deloris Winn, and a step daughter and her husband, Jan and Randy Culver of Berne, Indiana.
Memorial services for Mary Heston Winn Hay will be held Friday, June 16, 2017, at 11 A.M. at the Ollie Baptist Church in Ollie with Reverend Gary Reeves officiating. Fremont Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements. Burial of the urn will be at a later date. Cards and memorials may be sent to Jerome Winn, 101 East Main Street, Ollie, Iowa 52576. Memorials will be decided later.
