Merlyn A. Jackson Blumer, 92, of Ottumwa, went to be with the Lord at 11:30 a.m. February 6, 2018 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
She was born April 1, 1925 in Brookings, SD to Paul and Dora Spaulding Jackson. She married Clyde Blumer on September 6, 1942 and he preceded her in death on June 15, 1988.
Merlyn had been a resident of Ottumwa since 1934. She had been a charter member of First Pentecostal Assembly of God for over 50 years and was involved in music, playing the piano and organ, singing in the choir, and teaching Sunday school. Merlyn was also involved in the women's ministry and she loved the Lord with all of her heart. For the past few years she has attended Way of Peace Ministries.
Surviving are her children, Cynthia (Harold) Varnold of Galesburg, IL and Clyde Merrill (Cherlyn) Blumer of Bakersfield, CA; four grandchildren, Todd Blumer, Tony (Bettina) Blumer, Tina (Steve) Wilson and Scott Mullen; 7 great-grandchildren; a brother, Glenn (Jean) Jackson of Council Bluffs; 16 nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Berle, Vernon, Leonard, Arley and Lyle Jackson.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor LuEllen Worth officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Sunday with the family present from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday.
