Myrtle Dell Hamre, 87, of Ottumwa died at 9:03 a.m. March 8, 2018 at Hospice House in Ottumwa.
She was born June 22, 1930 in Ottumwa to Grover and Sarah Rhoades Cole. She married Paul Lee Hamre February 26, 1948. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2014.
Myrtle Dell grew up in Keosauqua. After marriage, she enjoyed being a homemaker along with being a housekeeper for several families in their homes. She loved spending time with children, especially her grandchildren.
Surviving are her 3 sons, Harold (Bee) Hamre of Bloomfield, Delmer Dean (Cheryl) Hamre and David (Karen) Hamre, both of Ottumwa; an "adoptive" daughter, Cathey (Mike) Gardner of Ottumwa,3 sisters, Norma Smith, of Silvis, Il, Weltha Rojas of Ottumwa, Lucille Miller of Tennessee; a brother Clarence "TP" Cole of Silvis, Il; 8 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 sisters Elizabeth Miller and Arlene Palmer and 3 brothers Gene, Ray and Ira Cole.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday at Reece Funeral Home with the family present from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. Her body will be cremated following the visitation.
Inurnment will be in Pittsburg Cemetery near Keosauqua at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice serving Wapello and Davis County.
