Orville Leonard Thomas, age 90, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa passed from this life on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 at St. Lukes Hospital, to once again be with his beloved wife, Eleanor McCall Thomas, in Heaven. Visitation will be 10:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Runge Mortuary. Funeral Service will follow. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Orville was born in Eldon, Iowa on April 10, 1927, son of Clarence and Nina (Cole) Thomas, a respected and hardworking farm family. He was united in marriage on May 1, 1948 in Ottumwa, Iowa to the love of his life, Eleanor Clara McCall. They spent 58 wonderful years together.

Orville served in the United States Army from 1944-1967 serving in the Special Forces during WWII, later retiring from The National Guard of Iowa.

Orville received his Engineering degree from Fort Belvoir, Virginia in 1966. He lived in Ottumwa until the 1970s and then moved to Davenport, Iowa retiring from March Pumps when he was 65 years old.

He is survived by: brother, Richard (Rebecca) Thomas, Casa Grande, Arizona; children Janice (Bob) Jamison, Cedar Rapids, IA; Joyce (Kim) Harban, Cedar Rapids, IA; Michael Thomas, Davenport, IA; Curtis (Maggie) Thomas, Shellsburg, IA; grandchildren: Robert Flanders, Anita Harban, Stacy Harban, Nicholas (Denell) Harban, Misty Meir, Dawn Thomas, Kyle Thomas, Chad (Jessica) Thomas, Scott (Alicia) Thomas, Sean Thomas, Katrina (Patrick) Thomas Mahoney; great-grandchildren: Braxton Harban, Izabell Harban, Lillyen Harban, Demonica Thomas, Colin Thomas, Basil Thomas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, brother, Edward Thomas, sisters, Patricia Brown and Amy Sylvester, and daughter in law, Kathy Thomas.
