Paul T. Vandello, 81, of Ottumwa died at 6:16 p.m. October 6, 2017 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines.
He was born October 2, 1936 in Ottumwa to Ralph T. and Mary A. Rose Vandello. He married Mary Ann Yochum January 11, 1958.
A graduate of Walsh High School in 1954, Paul started driving a milk truck for Wapello Dairy and worked at the Standard Station on Milner St. for 19 years. He also worked for Southern Iowa Concrete, laid carpet, worked at the Wapello County Jail and 14 years for the City of Ottumwa streets department, retiring in 2002.
He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #114, was a Boy Scout leader and he and his wife were foster parents for 11 years.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Ann; three sons, Roby Vandello of Puyallup, WA, Ralph Vandello of Ottumwa and Randy (Nikki) Vandello of Winterset, IA; a daughter, Ressa (Mike) Mason of Ottumwa; 9 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Wayne Vandello and Leo Vandello; and a daughter-in-law, Aileen Vandello.
Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Fr. Patrick Hilgendorf presiding. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Reece Funeral Home. A Christian Wake service will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home followed by family visitation until 8 p.m.
