Philip L. Kinman, 68, of 706 Glenwood Ave., died at 7:35 a.m. December 11, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society-Ottumwa.
He was born August 26, 1949 in Ottumwa to Earl L. and Norma Maxine Covert Kinman. He married Vicki Kelly on December 26, 1968.
A 1968 graduate of Ottumwa High School, Phil was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He worked for 33 years for the U.S. Postal Service, retiring in 2003.
Phil enjoyed reading western books, watching TV, attending rummage sales, and loved spending time with his grandkids. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Surviving is his wife, Vicki; his children, Rick (Dustie) Kinman, Amy (Joe) Haines, Tim Kinman, Travis Houghland, Jenny Moore Long all of Ottumwa and John Jones of Belle Plain; 8 grandchildren, Alex, Dewey, Shelby, Andrew, Jeffery, Austin, Tyler and Braxton; 3 great-grandchildren, Gavin, Camden and Katy; sisters, Roberta Roe of Ottumwa and Linda Stone of Avery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ricky Kinman and a sister, Pennie Hartley.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Loyd Osborn officiating. Military services will be conducted by Walter B. Schafer Post #775 Veterans of Foreign Wars and O.B. Nelson Post #3 American Legion. Cremation will follow the services. Inurnment will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
Visitation begins at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the family present from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
