Phil L. Palmer, 37, of Oskaloosa, formerly of Ottumwa, died suddenly on April 8, 2018 in Minneapolis, MN.
He was born July 7, 1980 in Ottumwa to Michael and Trudy Speer Palmer. He married Carree Iseman on March 20, 2010.
Phil grew up in Japan and Italy and lived in Bloomfield for a short time before moving to California. He was a graduate of Monte Vista High School in San Diego. He lived primarily in Ottumwa and Oskaloosa, and had also lived in Wyoming and Louisiana before recently moving back to Oskaloosa. Phil was a 2014 graduate of Buena Vista University.
Phil had worked for Osky Dental, Carter's Steel in Oskaloosa and currently working for Mistras, inspecting natural gas refineries. He considered his best job being a dad.
He enjoyed fishing, BBQ, making hot wings, traveling and hunting. Phil had a black belt in tae kwon do.
Surviving is his wife, Carree; his children, Madison, Hannah, Emma, Gracie-Jo, Pennelope and Cash; his father, Mike (Misty) Palmer of Ottumwa; brothers, Shad Palmer and Sky-lee Chrisman of Ottumwa; grandparents, Ray and Florence Palmer of Ottumwa; mother-in-law, Cindy Merrill of Brighton and brother-in-law, Eli Lynn of Fairfield.
He was preceded in death by his mother and step-father, Trudy and Paul Retacco; grandparents, Harry and Betty Speer; brother, Michael Chrisman.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Reece Funeral Home with Pastor Phil Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Shaul Cemetery.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday with the family present from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family for his children's education.
