After graduating from Moulton High School in 1953, Phyllis received her Associates Degree from Centerville Community College. She then went on to receive her Bachelors Degree and Masters Degree from Truman University. Phyllis taught school in Davis County for several years before becoming an Elementary school principal. She also was a teacher with the Moravia and Moulton-Udell school systems.
On July 12, 1953, Phyllis married Herman Fowler and to this union, three children were born.
Phyllis was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Moulton and served as a Sunday school teacher and lay speaker. She also participated in the Moulton City Council and was a member of the Rebekah Lodge. Phyllis was always willing to help with church or community activities. In her spare time she enjoyed: traveling, dancing, teaching, playing bridge, attending the Bobbie Williams shows and writing letters to her grandchildren. After retirement, Herman and Phyllis enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona with cousins.
Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Connie (Scot) Dunham; son, Gary (Shelli) Fowler; grandchildren: Clint (Lindsey) Varese, Ashley (Kris) Ingersoll, Tyler (Wendy) Davis, Natasha (T.J.) Campbell, Natalie (Joe) Trinkle, Miranda Dunham and Felicia (Chris) Cook; 14 great grandchildren; brothers: Johnny (Judy) Archer, Kenneth (Jan) Archer and David (Hope) Archer; sister-in-laws: Sue Archer and Shirley Fowler and her brother-in-law, Jack Fowler. She is also survived by numerous extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Herman; son, Jim "Peachy" Fowler and her brothers: Bill, Bobby and Max Archer.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at the Moulton United Methodist Church. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset View Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00-5:00 p.m. with the family present from 3:00-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at Thomas Funeral Home in Moulton.
