Randall Dale VanDyke, of Ottumwa, age 70, passed on February 15, 2017 at the VA Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa.
He was born on December 11, 1946 at the Washington county Hospital to Beryl and Erma (Derby) VanDyke of Richland, Iowa.
He lived in Richland until joining the Army in 1966 and after two tours of duty in Vietnam he returned to become a fireman in Ottumwa, Ia for 23 yrs.
He married Claudia Clemons on February 8th, 2017 in Iowa City, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Claudia VanDyke of Ottumwa, a son Leroy (Carrie) VanDyke of Newton, Ia, A daughter Jessica (Scott) Carlberg of Ottumwa, IA, grandchildren, Clayton, Chyanna, Alazai, Addison, Kloey, Koldan, Sister Connie (Ron) Fritz of Brighton, Iowa, and Candice (Mike) of Fort Worth, TX, nephew Brian Smith of TX, niece Jamie Price of TX, two step-son's, Rusty and Scott, step-granddaughter, Kayosha, and best friend, Ron.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two stillborn brothers, Max, and Rex, daughters, Kelly Renae, and Jacqueline Sue.
Memorial Service will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 at the Hickory Grove Community Church in Ottumwa. Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion and VFW of Ottumwa.
